At present, there are four common cross-border e-commerce delivery methods, namely the traditional express package mode, centralized shipping mode, overseas warehouse mode, and international express mode. Each different logistics mode has its own characteristics, which will be introduced one by one below.
What are the common logistics methods for cross-border e-commerce
1. Traditional express package mode
Traditional express packages, also known as postal parcels, are currently one of the most commonly used logistics models in China's cross-border e-commerce logistics. The main characteristics are wide coverage and relatively low prices. But its timeliness is poor, the loss rate is relatively high, and it gradually cannot keep up with the development needs of cross-border e-commerce.
2. Centralized shipping mode
The centralized shipping mode usually involves air freight to deliver a large quantity of products to a certain country or region in a centralized manner. The advantage is that it can be transported in a centralized manner on a large scale, reducing logistics costs and improving logistics efficiency. Its timeliness is better than traditional express packages, but lower than international express delivery, making it a relatively balanced logistics method in terms of cost and efficiency.
3. Overseas warehouse mode
The overseas warehouse model refers to cross-border e-commerce sellers storing goods in advance in warehouses in the destination country. After customers place orders on the seller's e-commerce website or third-party store, the goods are directly shipped from the local overseas warehouse to customers, thus achieving an international logistics form of local sales and local delivery. This can improve logistics timeliness and make returns and exchanges more convenient, but it is necessary to carefully estimate the quantity of pre stored goods.
4. International express delivery mode
The international express delivery mode is a transportation method with the fastest delivery time, lower packet loss rate, but high cost. Its main advantage is that it can provide a good logistics experience for overseas users. However, due to the high cost of international express delivery and the inability to transport some goods through international express delivery, sellers generally do not actively choose the international express delivery mode to send goods, and its proportion in cross-border e-commerce logistics is relatively small.
New model: Amazon's overall supply chain solution is worth recommending
In addition to the four common logistics models mentioned above, the Amazon supply chain solution launched by Amazon is also worth the attention of cross-border e-commerce sellers.
At the end of 2023, Amazon announced that its Supply Chain by Amazon solution will be officially opened to Chinese sellers, helping both Amazon and non Amazon sellers simplify their supply chain management processes. This is an integrated and automated supply chain solution that covers all sales channels. By integrating its own Amazon logistics tools, utilizing Amazon's powerful global distribution and transportation infrastructure, advanced technology, and real-time supply chain response, it optimizes global and local logistics, customs clearance, warehousing, and multi-channel distribution, creating an integrated supply chain system that helps sellers deliver goods from factory workshops to consumers with more convenient operations, faster speeds, and lower costs.
